Beidahu - Editor's Impression

Beidahu features two mountain peaks, each of which leads in Northeast and North China. Beidahu has the densest trail network in China, with dual peaks and three slope faces. The complex trail network makes every run an adventure, and the diverse trail types make this a comprehensive encyclopedia of skiing. This is the largest developed ski area in Asia, and also leads globally in groomed snow length. The resort also has 13 lifts. Ultra-long beginner trails, hotels at the base, large ski service centers, and large hot spring facilities - all essential elements of a ski resort are brilliantly showcased here.

Resort Features

  1. 870+710m dual peak vertical drop: Two mountain peaks, each ranking first in Northeast and North China. The larger mountain area also means more trails and more exploration space.
  2. Abundant advanced trails: Beidahu's professional skier community is a solid foundation for the resort's reputation. There are many advanced trails here with excellent snowmaking and grooming quality, offering both challenge and exceptional skiing experiences.
  3. Beginner-exclusive gondola: The E lift is an 8-person enclosed gondola that only serves the Starlight Avenue beginner trail, making it a beginner-exclusive gondola.
  4. 5km+ beginner trails: Both mountain peaks have 5km+ beginner trails from the summit. Beginner skiers can get their fill in one run. Nanshan Lou's H18 Nanshan Avenue has a 870m vertical drop with a maximum skiing distance exceeding 6km; Dadingzi Mountain's D13+D15 trails have a maximum skiing distance far exceeding 4km. The dual-peak beginner trail experience is unique to Beidahu in Northeast and North China.
  5. Unique natural scenery: Beidahu has a very high probability of alpine rime ice formation. When temperatures drop suddenly, it's like cotton candy covering the branches. The alpine rime ice areas on both peaks are must-visit photo spots that skiers can't get enough of.
  6. Convenient transportation for southern skiers: Beidahu is a 2-hour drive from the airport. Leveraging Changchun Airport's convenient transportation network as a provincial capital airport, almost all first, second, and third-tier cities in China can fly directly to Changchun, allowing same-day skiing.
  7. Chain quality hotels/large hot springs: Beidahu has two chain quality hotels - Club Med and InterContinental Holiday Inn. The Jile Hot Spring features Japanese design concepts with multiple functional areas and rich dining and entertainment facilities.

Mountain Overview

Beidahu Distant View

Leaving the ski service center, the left peak is Nanshan Lou, with trails focusing on intermediate difficulty. H18 Nanshan Avenue, Wind Chaser, and Gangliang trails are all here. To reach the Nanshan Lou summit, you need C/E→D→B lifts. See the lift transfer guide below for specific routes.

Facing away from the ski service center, the right peak is in the G lift direction, focusing on advanced trail difficulty. Qingyun Avenue and the D13D15 ultra-long beginner trails are here. In locations you can't see, there are J, M, and O lifts waiting for you to explore.

The valley between the two peaks is the Starlight Avenue valley accessed by the E lift, which is Beidahu's best beginner trail area.

Trail Opening Status

Beidahu opens for the season in early November each year. By New Year's Day, all trails and lifts are typically open. Starting mid-March, trails are gradually closed based on temperature fluctuations until complete closure in early April.

First-Time Beginners

Most official resort hotel room prices include stay-and-ski packages, which include daily lift tickets, equipment rental, and hot spring access for all guests. You don't need to purchase additional tickets.

Leaving the ski service center, please first go to the magic carpet area on the right for ski lessons. At the same entrance as the magic carpet area, there's also a UU lift. The UU lift trail is similar to the magic carpet area but longer. However, the UU lift doesn't have speed reduction devices at the top and bottom stations, so please follow your instructor's guidance when getting on and off. Ski Resort Chairlift Safety Guide | Must-Read for Beginners: Avoiding Chairlift "Scary Moments"

Then you can try the E lift, located behind the UU and C lifts, marked with the "HH" logo. All trails on the E lift are suitable for beginner snowboarders, and beginner skiers just need to overcome the small steep section at the start. Then you can try the two trails on the C lift. Beidahu's H18 summit beginner trails are more difficult than Sunshine Avenue.

Among the beginner trails from the summit, D13D15 is very friendly for beginner skiers, but beginner snowboarders might get stuck at a few spots in the middle. Nanshan Lou's H18 trail is not recommended for beginner skiers due to too many flat sections and two steep slopes in the middle, which can be painful.

If you're staying near the H or J lifts, please don't take the lifts up the mountain as there are no beginner trails at the H and J lift top stations. Please take the resort shuttle bus to the ski service center base area and choose the magic carpet or E lift to start skiing.

Beidahu offers beginner trail products. You can purchase beginner ticket products including "E lift + UU lift + magic carpet" on various platforms. In addition to the 200-meter magic carpet, you can also take the E lift and ski the 2.2km beginner trail Starlight Avenue.

Magic Carpet and UU Lift

Every beginner coming to Beidahu first needs to conquer the magic carpet area, located on the right side outside the ski service center. If you find the magic carpet not long enough, you can try the UU lift (4-person open chairlift) for an 800-meter beginner trail skiing distance.

E Lift - HH Lift

The E lift is Beidahu's beginner-exclusive lift, located behind the C lift chair, marked with the large "HH" logo. The Starlight Avenue at the top and surrounding trails like D3 and D4 are all beginner-friendly trails. Although the starting area is a bit steep, it becomes much gentler after skiing down a section. Beginner-Exclusive E Lift

C Lift

Entering the base area, the most obvious chairlift is the C lift. The wide trail next to the lift is Sunshine Avenue. The trail is 120m wide at its widest point, 1km long, and is Beidahu's longest-open trail during the ski season. The lighting conditions are better here, and the gradient is more suitable for practice. Both experts and beginners like to refine their skills here. Turning right at the C lift top station is the H16 Muxue trail, also a beginner-friendly trail. Beidahu | Complete Photo Spot Collection | Mountain Photography Locations

G Lift

Following the ridge from the G lift summit is D14 Qingyun Avenue, one of the longest-open trails during the season. The D14 trail is 3.2km long and represents Beidahu's skiing proficiency threshold, the final step toward becoming an expert. The 3.2km intermediate trail can fully test all aspects of a person's skiing skills, so "soaring to success" (平步青云) at Beidahu also represents a person's skill level. D14 is also the trail that connects all lifts on Dadingzi Mountain. Once you're familiar with every intersection, you won't get lost on this mountain.

The D9 trail is the most popular among resort experts, a challenging advanced trail. Most of the 600+ meter vertical drop consists of steep slopes, giving intermediate skiers no breathing room, while top skiers can enjoy the ultimate thrill of speed here. The initial section is D9's steepest, then the gradient decreases slightly near the G lift mid-station. D12 has a similar gradient to D9 but is narrower and more difficult than D9.

The D13+D15 trail is a beginner trail from the summit with abundant lightning turns winding down the slope, very suitable for beginner skiers. Beginner snowboarders might get stuck at the end of D13. The trail winds through dense forest, and in the morning sunlight, the dancing tree shadows create a wonderful atmosphere.

H, J, and K Lifts

The H lift bottom station serves Holiday Inn and Beimei Shiguang Hotel. The J lift bottom station serves the Shanhuju hotel series. Both lifts provide ski-in/ski-out hotel access, with top stations located in the middle section of Qingyun Avenue. The two lifts serve opposite sides of the ridge. The trails on both sides aren't long, but the gradient is suitable and width is considerable, making it a great practice area with fewer people and good trails. The H lift is a chairlift, more suitable for skiers. The J lift is a gondola, more suitable for snowboarders.

The K lift complements the H and J lifts and provides direct access near the summit. K Lift Covering 11km of Trails

Beidahu K Lift

M and O Lifts

This is Beidahu's newly developed trail area, also known as "Xinancha" (Southwest Fork). The trail gradients in this area are steeper than Qingyun Avenue, especially the D28 trail, where the steepest sections feel similar to D9. Both lifts' top stations are near the G lift, with bottom stations in two different valleys. The surrounding area is undeveloped with a strong wilderness atmosphere. If you like quiet nature, this is a great choice. [M Lift video, O Lift video]

Beidahu MO Lifts

D Lift

Turning attention back to Nanshan Lou, the D lift bottom station is not at the base area but halfway up the mountain. You need to ski from the H16 trail or Starlight Avenue to reach it. The D lift top station elevation is similar to the G lift top station. The trail to the right of the D lift top station is Beidahu's most beautiful trail - Gangliang Trail. The Gangliang trail is gentle, accompanied by alpine rime ice, winding through sparse forest, with many explorable terrains nearby. The trails to the left of the D lift are H10 and Lingyun Avenue. H10 has several large lightning turns winding down the slope, eventually merging into the valley directly below the D lift. The valley section has excellent snow quality and is also a great place to practice. Lingyun Avenue runs directly from the D lift top station to the base. The upper section of Sunshine Avenue is Lingyun Avenue's steepest part. More difficult than D9, standing at the top you can't even see where the trail is. [D Lift trail video]

B Lift

The peak to the left of the D lift is Nanshan Lou's highest peak, accessible only by the B lift. The B lift is an open chairlift with both start and end points on the mountain peak, creating a feeling of flying through the sky. This is also the area with the densest alpine rime ice. The trail directly below the B lift faces west and is at high elevation, receiving full-day direct sunlight, making it a beloved sunny practice spot for many skiers. Multiple TVC productions have been filmed in the surrounding forest. Another famous trail at the B lift summit is H18 Nanshan Avenue, a trail with a maximum skiing distance of 6.6km and maximum vertical drop of 870 meters. Most sections are beginner trails, suitable for intermediate skiers to experience. Currently, the slope face that H18 traverses has no other machine-groomed trails, and the scenery here differs from other slope faces. No matter how difficult H18 is to ski, every skier who loves Beidahu can't bear to give it up. [B Lift video]
